Mark 13:1-23

“Preparation for the End of the Age”

1. Jesus warned His disciples that the temple would be completely destroyed. (v.1-2)

Application: Beware having the wrong pillars of faith!

2. Jesus’ answer to the disciples’ questions was alarming and anxiety inducing, yet Jesus commanded them to trust God’s faithful work. (v.3-13)

A. Do not be alarmed by the beginning of the birth pains. (v.3-8)

B. Do not be anxious as you proclaim the gospel, for the Holy Spirit will speak for you. (v.9-13)

C. Those who endure to the end will be saved. (v.13)

Application: Being on guard requires us to trust God, not circumstances!

3. Jesus taught His disciples to be on guard for the great tribulation, trusting God to cut short the days, and not looking to a false Christ or prophet to deliver them. (v.14-23)

Jesus gives three commands to obey in these ten verses:

A. Flee. (14)

B. Do not believe the false Christs or prophets. (21)

C. Be on guard. (23)

Application: We must wait on the Lord, trusting His perfect and eternal deliverance!
